Yapply Privacy Policy

Yapply ("Yapply", "we", "us", or "our") is a chat, voice, and video messaging app operated by Gideon Tyberg. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Yapply, you agree to the practices described here.

We only collect what we need to run the service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Voice and video calls

Voice and video calls are carried in real time through our calling provider, LiveKit. Call audio and video are not recorded or stored by Yapply.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or in connection with a business transfer.

5. Where your data is stored

Your Yapply account data is stored on servers operated directly by us. Backups are stored in encrypted form with Backblaze B2. Depending on where you live, your information may be processed in a country different from your own; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Messages remain until you or another participant deletes them, or until you delete your account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and associated personal data from our live systems; residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being overwritten.

7. Your rights and choices

EEA/UK residents (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), our legitimate interests (to keep the service safe and functioning), and your consent (for example, for notifications). You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to correct it. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Children's privacy

Yapply is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (TLS), row-level access controls that restrict data to the users entitled to see it, and encrypted backups. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any issue.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
